William's Story

Achieving excellence

William, the son of one of our volunteers, heard about the university grant we offer students through his mum. He shared that his grant allowed him to better engage with his studies, and allowed him to buy books and other resources he needed to achieve his best. But he did note that it wasn’t only about hitting the books, the support also allowed him to take part in university sports teams as well, making some good connections, improving his work-life balance and providing him with a more rounded university experience.

William pointed out that the extra support he received from the charity did in some small way contribute to him to achieving an excellent result in his degree – a First Class honours in Computer Science (BSc Honours).

About his experience with the charity, William says “I’ve never encountered people so committed to really making a difference to the people they work with.”
