ScotsCare wins “Impactful Grant of the Year” Award!
At the Association of Charitable Organisations (ACO) Annual Awards Ceremony.
ScotsCare has won an award for “Impactful Grant of the Year” at the Association of Charitable Organisations (ACO) Annual Awards Ceremony.
The Annual Awards, which took place on 27th September in London, shine a spotlight on the outstanding achievements of grant-making and benevolent charities across the nation, recognising those who have made significant contributions to providing financial and well-being support to individuals and families in need. ScotsCare was nominated in a competitive category alongside notable charities Hospitality Action and the Royal British Legion.
Much of the support ScotsCare gives is through its range of grants, designed to break the cycle of deprivation experienced by generation after generation of some Scots in London.
A remarkable case highlighted for the award was of a client who engaged with the charity for grants over the years, to help turn her life around. The client fled a traumatic situation in Scotland, bringing her two young children to London. She then unfortunately suffered domestic abuse whilst pregnant, before leaving the relationship. She came to ScotsCare in her time of need and received their Children’s Grants, Activities Grants and Household grants, to help her with the costs of school uniforms, children’s lessons and items such as sofas and white goods, to help her young family get set up in a safer environment.
The client came back to ScotsCare to receive more grants as needed, and she most recently received a ScotsCare Student Grant, enabling her to study a 3 year psychology degree, which she passed with Honours. The clients long term goal is to work in the field of education and psychology.
CEO Shona Fleming was delighted to win, saying:
“It’s fantastic recognition of the impact of ScotsCare’s grants on the lives of our clients. In this particular case we were able to support a person to improve their life for the better in the long term and I’m glad we could be there for them over the years. Thank you to the ScotsCare Client Support team for their dedicated work not just in this case, but for the thousands of cases that give financial, practical and emotional support.”
