Michelle's Story
Michelle, originally from Glasgow, moved to London with her parents when she was around three years old.
She suffered abuse during her childhood, and during her teenage years she started abusing substances, which has continued throughout her adult life.
In the past year, she started a relationship which quickly became abusive. A referral was sent to the local council which involved a multi-agency approach to try and keep her safe. There were also other issues around anti-social behaviour at her property. She was struggling to control unwanted guests who were taking over her flat and putting her at risk of further violence.
Our Scottish Outreach Worker, Patricia, attended regular meetings with the council, and it was decided to move her to a new property. ScotsCare supported Michelle with a removal and re-settlement grant to help her to buy some much-needed items.
Michelle has since moved into her new flat and feels much safer in her new surroundings.
