6 Fundraisers Complete the Thames Trek for ScotsCare
Well done on walking 25km through all weathers!
Congratulations and a big thank you to our fundraisers that completed the Thames Trek challenge on Saturday 13th September! They were rained and walked through four seasons, on but got through it, and have raised a magnificent £3,369 for ScotsCare so far! 🚶
Thank you David McMurtrie, Suzanne Gillan, Chris Argent, Bartholomew Preston, Kevin Lynch and Pamela Todd.
You can still say well done and support ScotsCare’s frontline services by making a donation here.
And thank you to our volunteers that came out on the day to support around the course!
One of the participants, Trustee David McMurtrie said:
“I’ve run nine marathons in my life until sadly a tendon injury forced me to give up running. But undertaking the ThamesBridgesTrek on Saturday felt every bit as challenging.
The 25km journey, spanning 12 bridges, took 5 hours and 40 minutes, starting in brilliant sunshine at Putney Bridge and concluding in the rain at Southwark Park. In between we experienced sunshine, wind, torrential rain and drizzle. Not to mention having to walk through some very angry looking demonstrators draped in flags on the South Bank, as well as the throngs of tourists in Borough Market.
I’m proud to have raised money for ScotsCare, a charity dear to my heart that provides vital assistance and support to first and second generation Scots in and around London. I’ve also realised that setting yourself a challenge is motivating and rewarding – whether it’s running a Marathon, walking 25km or simply stepping outside of your day to day comfort zone.
If you’re able to contribute, you can still support my fundraising efforts.. A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated – your generosity is much appreciated.”
