An interview with volunteer Roben

How did you find out about ScotsCare?

It was a day in April, in a Volunteering Fair that I first met Louise and ScotsCare.

What attracted you to volunteer for ScotsCare?

We had a lovely chat and I felt ScotsCare stood out from the other charities as I was encouraged to volunteer even without any experience or a similar background. I am new to the UK and London and its ScotsCare who first give me an opportunity to work/ volunteer 🙂

You volunteer as a receptionist in the office. Do you like the work involved?

I feel very grateful and love to work as the receptionist in the office because this is my chance to not only know more about the working environment in the UK but also to know more about the local people and society.

What is it like working with the other volunteers and staff at ScotsCare?

Working with other volunteers and staff at ScotsCare feel like in a big family. Everyone is supportive and friendly 🙂 , and working with you guys definitely improved my listening and my knowledge about Scots!

What is the support here that you receive from staff that you value the most?

It is the trust from you guys that I value the most, since I am totally a newbie here, and this gives me courage to deal with many other different tasks of daily life here as the first Scot I learnt – Gie it Laldy!
