Scot of the Year 2011 Winner
Ally McErlaine

We are delighted to announce that Ally McErlaine, the Texas guitarist, has been announced, your Scot of the year for 2011. Ally was on the list in recognition of his remarkable recovery from a life threatening brain haemorrhage and coming back with a European tour with Texas and new album, with band Red Sky July. Congratulations Ally!
When we contacted Ally he had this to say, “I was really surprised to be nominated amongst such great names and I’m even more surprised to have won. It is a great honour though to be recognised by a charity that does such great work for Scots in London,”
He was closely followed by Scottish actor Karen Gillan who is better known as Amy Pond in the Doctor Who series. Gerry Rafferty who was posthumously added to the list in recognition of his lasting musical legacy was in 3rd place and pushed Scottish First Minister, Alex Salmond who was recently announced ‘Briton of the Year’ by the Times newspaper into 4th place.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and congratulations again to Ally.
