About Us
About Us
We’ve been helping Scots in London with advice, support and financial assistance for over 400 years. If you’re Scottish or have Scottish parents and need help then we’re here for you.
Who are ScotsCare?
ScotsCare is the registered trademark of The Royal Scottish Corporation, a charity that traces its origins back to 1603. In 1611 wealthy Scots in London would meet to place money in a Scots Box. This money would then be dispersed to the less fortunate Scots in the city. This desire to help is the same today as it was 400 years ago. We’re dedicated to helping first and second generation Scots living in London and we welcome everyone, regardless of race, colour or sexuality.
Our aim is to help the Scottish community in London offering honest advice and practical help to Scots across the capital.
Why an organisation purely for Scots?
There are 340,000 first and second generation Scots in London. That’s a big community, and one that knows the value of community spirit. ScotsCare provides support for those who have become detached from their family, their friends and their communities back in Scotland.
What do we do?
We help first and second generation Scots who may be struggling with London life. We run assisted housing communities for the elderly and those with disabilities, offer financial help to students and those re-training for new careers, help for low income families and provide a host of other kinds of support for the Scottish community. And we’re here to talk, if you’re new to London and are feeling isolated and alone.
